Landing Net

Before buying or building a landing net, several things should be considered
such as the size of the target fish, the fishing technique used
and your catch and release policy.

The frame of your landing net should be made of the lightest possible material
but still be strong enough to land bigger fish then expected.
The shape of the frame does not matter but it should be big enough
to land the target fish from its side.
The length of the shaft should of course be long enough to land fish from the most
difficult position, i.e. from behind bushes, trees, weeds in the fishing area.

Folding landing nets are easier to transport and are very useful
when fishing along rivers and lakes, but it is difficult,
if not impossible, to find one that has the strength of a fixed landing net.

If you practise catch and release, choose a landing net with woven
instead of knotted mesh, since the knots very often damage the fish.
