Transverse-bar Barb

Identification:
Upper body golden with a brown to green tint.
Adults have a dark marking between dorsal and pelvic fins.
Dorsal fin dark orange to brown, and pelvic and anal fins red to orange.
Black stripes along each lobe of the red tail.

Typical location:
In clear lakes, rivers and streams with running water and muddy bottom.

Fishing methods:
Bottom fishing with molluscs, maggots, earthworm or prawns.
Casting small spoons, spinners and flies.

Fighting characteristics:
A strong barb with powerful pulls mixed with dives for deeper water.
