Identification:
Large scales, big eyes and an upward angled mouth.
Dorsal and anal fins are well behind the pectoral fins
and extend almost to the tail.
Upper body dark brown to olive.
Sides and belly light brown to cream coloured.
Typical location:
Near the surface amongst vegetation in shallow
and calm waters of rivers and lagoons.
Fishing methods:
Lure casting with spinners and minnows.
Flyfishing with dry as well as wet flies.
Fighting characteristics:
A tough fighter that will seek shelter
around underwater snags and other submerged structures.
