Bottom Rigging

Rigging for bottom fishing can be done in various ways.

Below is described Thai Fishing Guide's recommended way of making this simple rig.

The main line is threaded through the desired sinker
(or a suitable length of copper pipe).

Thereafter a bead is threaded onto the line
which then is tied onto a swivel using a Blood Knot.

Bottom Rig Step 1

The desired hook is then tied onto a short leader using a Triple Palomar Knot.

At the other end of the leader, a loop is tied using a Bimini Twist.

Bottom Rig Step 2

The leader is then attached to the swivel by passing the loop through the swivel
and then passing the hook through the loop of the leader and then pulling tight.

Bottom Rig Step 3

The sliding sinker will enable the shy fish to play with the bait
and swim with it without feeling any tension.

By using copper pipe as sinkers, you eliminate the risk
of turtles, swans and ducks eating lost sinkers
causing death by suffocation or lead poisoning.
